For the 2024 Rotary-on-a-Stick District 5950 Conference at the Minnesota State Fair, I had the privilege of designing a comprehensive visual identity for this once-in-a-lifetime event. From t-shirts and tote bags to hats and hand fans, I developed promotional materials that ensured attendees could carry a piece of the event with them. Central to the event’s branding was a dynamic logo that captured the energy and spirit of both Rotary District 5950 and the Minnesota State Fair, serving as the foundation for all visual elements.
In addition to promotional items and event signage, I designed the banners and flags for the Rotary parade float, which were featured in the iconic State Fair parade. These bold designs created a memorable visual impact, with flags waved by club presidents adding a personal and interactive touch to the celebration. I also contributed to the event’s activities by designing the Treasure Hunt map, which guided participants through a playful exploration of the fairgrounds, and the prize ribbons awarded to winners, which became cherished keepsakes.
The event’s branding and promotions paid careful homage to Rotary International’s brand standards, especially through the use of the organization’s signature colors and the integration of the Areas of Focus icons. While honoring these established elements, I crafted a visual style that embraced the unique charm of the Great Minnesota Get Together, incorporating playful, fair-inspired design motifs to reflect the State Fair’s lively and inclusive atmosphere. This blend of tradition and local flair ensured the event was unmistakably Rotary while creating a distinct identity that resonated with attendees and fairgoers alike.
